How To Get Involved
The AMC/CSEU binational committees are always looking for new members, passionate about strengthening the ties between Arizona and Mexico. As a committee member you will be surrounded by subject-area experts and business leaders from Arizona and Mexico, coming together to achieve common goals. Committee Executive Summary
Through the active participation and collaboration of public offices, the committee has established a highly factual, objective, and unbiased perspective on the mechanics of real estate and land sales. This collaborative oversight guarantees full transparency regarding the statutory and legal requirements mandated by respective State Offices, positioning both regions to better serve the public interest and resolve localized systemic challenges.
Action Plans
#1 – Strengthening the Binational Relationships in Real Estate Investment: To facilitate lawful cross-border commerce, the committee is drafting a partnered Substantive Policy Statement (SPS) to clearly outline the verification processes required to ensure a licensee is active before cross-border referral fees can be legally paid. The committee is maintaining ongoing discussions to confirm licensing status via public office online registry searches, with the long-term goal of continuously obtaining and displaying these license confirmations transparently on our public website.
#2 – Unlicensed Activity Disciplinary Support: To protect consumers and stabilize the cross-border market, the committee is actively assisting in enforcement and disciplinary mechanisms regarding unlicensed real estate activity in Sonora. This initiative aims to systematically increase the number of legally licensed real estate professionals in Sonora by evaluating whether Sonora can adopt Arizona’s framework or establish a parallel practice of issuing formal Substantive Policy Statements to deter illicit activity moving forward.
#3 – Sonoran Development Public Report Processing: The committee is maintaining a proactive stance to support the first Sonoran developer to initiate a public report. While no formal applications for a Public Report for a development located in Sonora have been officially received to date, the recent Plenary Conference demonstrated a significant increase in public and developer interest.
