Dear AMC Friend:
Earlier this week, Governor Ducey delivered his International State of the State Address hosted by the Phoenix Committee on Foreign Relations, in which he reported that Arizona’s international relationships have never been stronger and opportunities to prosper have never been greater.
In a panel discussion with guests Mexico Undersecretary Carlos Sada and Canada Ambassador David MacNaughton, there was a clear consensus that Arizona is a national leader for international trade. When asked how Arizona can build on international trade opportunities, Ambassador MacNaughton responded “Keep on doing what you’re doing.” Mexico Undersecretary reinforced this message, referencing the game-changing, SkyBridge Arizona project at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, which will open U.S. e-commerce markets to customers in Mexico and South America. The three agreed that while change lies ahead – working together will be critical to our mutual success.
Governor Ducey explained that while some see the rapidly evolving and complex international dynamic as a challenge – in Arizona we see it as an opportunity. Governor Ducey laid out a clear strategy that will continue to apply an innovative and entrepreneurial approach to doing business with Canada, Mexico and countries across the world. The Arizona-Mexico Commission is an integral part of that work.
