Governor Brewer Meets with Governor Bours of Sonora

Governor Jan Brewer met for the first time with Governor Eduardo Bours of Sonora on Jan. 15, 2009 during a Phoenix Committee on Foreign Relations (PCFR) event where they shared their willingness to continue to foster the good relationship between Arizona and Sonora.

Border Governors Conference (BGC) representatives from the U.S. and Mexico met at Arizona State University for the Third Planning Meeting, sponsored by the Arizona-Mexico Commission (AMC), in preparation for the upcoming XXVII Border Governors Conference to be held on September 2-4, 2009 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano and Mexican Minister of Finance and Public Credit Agustín Carstens today signed a Letter of Intent that will strengthen bilateral cooperation between the United States and Mexico. The agreement aims to increase security in both countries and facilitate the flow of legal travel and trade.

On June 5, 2009, a tragic fire in an Hermosillo daycare, ABC Day Care, that claimed the lives of over 40 children and has over 25 hospitalized in various stages of care, mostly serious to critical.
